Listing Image Requirements

Trust and transparency are core to the Mehchant marketplace. Buyers rely on listing images to understand exactly what they are purchasing. For this reason, sellers are required to use accurate, truthful imagery that clearly represents the item a buyer will receive.
By uploading images to Mehchant, you confirm that you have the legal right to use those images and that they comply with Mehchant’s Intellectual Property Policy, Prohibited Items Policy, and all applicable content standards.
Use Original Product Images
Sellers must use original images that accurately depict the actual finished product offered for sale. Images should reflect the true condition, quality, scale, and appearance of the item. Original images include:
- Photos taken by you
- Photos taken on your behalf
- Images you own or have licensed with full rights for commercial use
Images must represent the final product as it will be delivered to the buyer, not a concept, draft, or unrelated example.
Image Context & Descriptions
Listing images should visually support the context described in the listing. Where examples are used to demonstrate variations, customization, or use cases, the imagery must clearly align with the product description and must not mislead buyers.
If an image demonstrates an example scenario (such as personalization, styling, or usage), the listing description must clearly explain what is included in the purchase.
Limited Exceptions for Stock Images or Mockups
In certain cases, using stock images or mockups may be permitted, provided they accurately represent the final product.
Personalized or Customized Items
- The primary listing image must show a finished example of the customized product.
- Placeholder images (e.g. “Your Text Here”) or blank base items may not be used as the main image.
- Additional images may include mockups to demonstrate options, provided they are clearly labeled.
Items Produced with Production Partners
- Physical products: (Furniture, apparel, books) Sellers should use images of the actual finished product whenever possible.
- Standard base items: (Mugs, posters, t-shirts) High-quality mockups may be used to illustrate the design.
Prohibited Image Practices
- Images of items different from what is being sold
- Stock photos that misrepresent materials, size, or quality
- Renderings or AI-generated images presented as real photographs
- Images with watermarks or third-party branding
- Images violating safety or IP policies
Enforcement
Mehchant reserves the right to remove or deactivate listings that do not comply with these requirements. Repeated or intentional misuse of images may result in account restrictions or suspension.
